BEST OF TWO WORLD HERITAGE MT MULU & MT KINABALU
Day 1 : Flight to Kuala Lumpur Depart your country to Kuala Lumpur on your own choice of airlines and transit to Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo.
Day 2 Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo The name “Borneo” evokes ideas of adventure, primeval forests, and headhunters. More than that, Borneo offer awe-inspiring caves, Borneo’s highest mountain and insights into their colonial past. Today we arrives KLIA and transit on MH flight to Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak State. Meet your guide and you will be transfer to your hotel. A briefing conducted by your tour leader at the hotel lobby at 6.00pm Make sure you bring along your international air ticket and your insurance policy. After briefing either you go your own way to look for your choice of meals or your tour leader will bring you the popular TOP SPOT seafood restaurant. We overnight at Harbour View hotel or similar (3stars)
Day 3 Bako National Park This morning we visit Sarawak’s first National Park – Bako National Park; this area has been protected since 1957” the animals have become quite tame. Long –tailed macaques and wild boar come around the visitors’ accommodation while proboscis monkeys and monitor lizards can be seen in the surrounding mangrove forest. There is a wide range of bird life, too with both inland and sea birds represented. We return late in the afternoon to Kuching city. We overnight at the hotel. Day 4 Mulu National Park This morning we fly from Kuching to Miri and transit on to Mulu National Park at 0920hrs flight. The flight will takes only 30 mins. The best of the world heritage site in Malaysia – Mulu National Park earned its reputation for having the biggest cave in the world – Sarawak Chamber and the largest Cave passage in the world – Deer Cave and the longest underground system in South East Asia – Clearwater Cave. Mulu established because of its botanical interest. It has all type of forest and a lot of rare species of plant, orchids and palm trees are found in Mulu National Park. After lunch we take the plank walk to visit Deer and Lang’s Cave. In the evening we wait for the bat flights from the Deer Cave and return late in the afternoon to Park HQ and by van to Royal Mulu Resort. We enjoy the cultural dinner at Royal Mulu resort. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 5 Mulu National Park After breakfast we depart by longboat to the source of the Clearwater River. Explore the CAVE OF THE WIND with unusual calcite formations including the tall, slender stalagmites in King’s Room. Just a few hundred meters upriver lies CLEARWATER CAVE where you ascend the 200 steps to the cave’s main entrance; visit the dry passage – LADY’S CAVE and the Show part of the Clearwater System. For those who want more adventurous activities crawl through the Turtle Cave. We have our picnic lunch at the Clearwater Spring. We then return to Royal Mulu Resort for dinner and overnight. Enjoy the swimming pool at the resort or rent the mountain bike, kayak for the rest of the day. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 6 Kota Kinabalu This morning is a free morning for you or option is to take the Mulu Canopy Walk (2hrs) We depart at 1540hrs from Mulu to Kota Kinabalu. Expected to arrive at 1730hrs and transfer to your hotel. We overnight at Imperial International hotel (5stars) Breakfast)
Day 7: Mt Kinabalu Pick up from your hotel at 0730 hours – overland transfer towards Kinabalu National Park about 92 km north of Sabah – Journey about 2 hours passing through beautiful valley overlooking the valley – Upon arrival, registration arrange by your local guide then introduction with your mountain guide – transfer uphill towards the power station or the starting point about 4.5 km away – climb to the base camp takes an average 4-5 hours – check in and overnight stay at mountain hut. (Breakfast, Packed lunch, Buffet dinner). For those who wish not to climb Mt Kinabalu option to do Kinabalu Park (botanical garden) which takes 1-2hrs walk and a few mark trails at the Park HQ. Transfer to your hotel at Cottage hotel. We overnight.
Remarks: Condition of climb grading as moderate. Climbing as expect slopes, mud, rocks, steep ladders of 25-45 degree steepness. Clothing of casual & comfortable warm cloths recommended with at least 3 liters of water. Always with rain coat on standby as rain may gradually come from time to time.
Day 8: Ascend & Descend Mt Kinabalu Wake up at 0200 hours for early supper – begins trekking at 0230 hours average of 3-4 hours climb – main objective to climb in early dust is to reach the summit before sunrise – to witness the horizon with spectacular view from the tip of the summit beyond great angles – about 0700 to 0730 hours start descending back to laban rata rest house for your most deserved breakfast after your great achievements – expectant by 1000 hours begin trekking down to power station for your kotas transfer to Park HQ. We expected to reach at Park HQ at 1300hrs. The rest of the day you can either go for traditional massage, fish massage at Moroli River situated at kampong Moroli. For non climber, this morning you proceed to visit Poring Hot Spring where you can take the canopy walk, visit butterfly garden and a short trek to the waterfall. After lunch proceed to Kampong Moroli for the traditional fish massage at Moroli River. We overnight at Cottage hotel. ( Breakfast)
Remarks: Condition of climb consider difficult for the unfit as the air gets thinner as you climb. Altitude problem may occur from time to time and advisable to take extra precautions. Path of climb are steep rock, edge and ladders. Air may be dropping from 8 – 5 degrees. Windbreaker and warm jackets are essentials.
Day 9: Kota Kinabalu After breakfast we depart overland to Kota Kinabalu and catch the boat to Manukan Island. Activities like snorkeling, water sport, scuba diving can be done at Manukan Island. We return at 4.00pm back to Kota Kinabalu and rest of the day at leisure. We overnight at Imperial International hotel (3stars) situated right in the city centre. (Breakfast)
Day 10: Onward travel home Free till transfer to Kota Kinabalu International airport for onward travel home. For those who want extension stay, we offer optional tours to Sandakan Wildlife Close-up ( 3days 2nights) Pulau Sipadan diving ( 3days 2nights), Pulau Tiga Island Retreat (3 days 2nights) . Requirement for the trip: Raincoat, Torchlight, insect repellent, day pack for mountain climbing, warm clothes, towel, toilet and bath kit, water bottle and a small first Aid kit.
