3 days 2 nights ex Kota Kinabalu

At 4101 m Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Borneo and the highest between the Himalayas and Iran Jaya. Park Headquarter is already high enough to be pleasantly cool and typical montane forest grows around; well-marked trails lead through the forest here. The Mountain Garden contains a variety of interesting plants, including montane orchids and pitcher plants.

The main trail to the summit leads first to the LABAN RATA resthouse, set among stunted bushes at 3260 m; Higher up we soon come to bare granite rock, with hardy plants clawing at cracks. The early morning temperature here can go down to freezing! From the summit, there are good views over the city of Kota Kinabalu and northern Borneo. We will scurry back to the valley before the clouds come in and the afternoon storms begin.

Day 1: Meet at Kota Kinabalu airport and transfer to your choice of hotel. We recommend you to stay at Beverly hotel if your flight landed late in the afternoon. For those who arrived in the morning we transfer you to Mesliau Nature Resort which takes 3 hours drive and through the scenic countryside and witness the breathtaking view of the mountain range. Stop at Nabalu, a typical native market along the way. We continue our journey to Mesliau Nature Resort which is situated 2000 m above sea level at the foot of Mount Kinabalu. In this amazing nature lover paradise, you have the opportunity to take a walk along the nature trail to see different species of pitcher plant. (Dinner)

Day 2: After breakfast proceed to the starting point of your mountain scaling trip. One extraordinary sign is that as your climb the vegetation changes from oak and chestnut forest to mossy forest and eventually to alphine vegetation when you reach at 11000’ at the mountain hut. (Breakfast, Packed lunch, Dinner)

* For non climber on this day we do the nature trail at the Park HQ and we put overnight at Cottage hotel at Kundasang. Buy your own dinner at the restaurant.

Day 3: This morning at 0300hrs we ascend to the summit of Mt Kinabalu in time for the sunrise. We then return to Laban Rata for your breakfast before descend to Park HQ.  Have your lunch at Balsam Café and we proceed to travel overland to Kota Kinabalu. Either you put overnight at Beverly hotel or onward flight home. (Breakfast, Lunch)

* For non climber on this day we visit Poring Hot Spring. At poring, too, is a walkway constructed high in the tree-top, giving visitors a glimpse of the most important with low-altitude orchids collected in the area as well as an animal enclosure and a butterfly farm. The energetic can take a walk through the forest to a series of magnificent waterfalls.

Note: Climbing Mt Kinabalu depend on the availability of the mountain hut and need well in advance to book. We can only confirmed this tour if the mountain hut is available. Once payment is made there is no refund according to SSL booking system.

Mountain hut is very basic with bed bunk only and in certain mountain hut there is no heater so see below the requirement for the climb.

Requirement for the Climb:

Warm clothes, raincoat, torchlight, water bottle, rucksack, sleeping bag, toilet and bath kit and a small first Aid kit.

The Price includes: all transfer, meals as stated, entry permit and fees, climbing fees, climbing insurance, Kotas transfer, mountain guide, and accommodation at mountain hut.
