3 Days 2 Nights ex Kota Kinabalu

The Kinabatangan is the largest river in Sabah. Its lower reaches are rich in wildlife, especially the curious proboscis monkey, which sleep in the trees along the bank. Watching them gather there as your boat drifts silently down the river at dusk is a memorable experience. And when you return at down, as the morning mist lifts from the river, they will still be there. You have a good chance too to see hornbills and kingfishers, macaques and leaf monkeys. Small lakes near the river attract larger animals- wild boar and deer- which come to drink in the morning or evening. Elephants are also know to be in the area whereby our expert guide will lead you to see the pygmy elephants.

Day 1: Kota Kinabalu- Sandakan- Sukau

This morning we fly to Sandakan on MH3032 ETD 0905hrs. We arrived at Sandakan airport at 0955hrs. On arrival meet your guide and drive to Sukau which takes about 2 hours drive. The freshwater swamp forest around Sukau is home to myriad wildlife such as tree snake and birds such as frogmouth, bulbul and hornbill. We then check in at the Bilit Rainforest Lodge. Have lunch at the lodge and in the evening we do the river cruise to see Proboscis monkey and other wildlife along the river bank.  Sukau is the destination where you can easily see wildlife and if you are lucky you are able to see elephants as well. We overnight at the lodge. (Lunch, Dinner)

Day 2: Sukau

This day is our exciting day as we are in search of Bornean Pygmy elephant and wild orang utan with our expert guide. You have a good chance too to see hornbills and kingfishers, macaques and leaf monkey. We overnight at the Bilit Rainforest Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3 : Sukau – Sepilok – Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast, jungle walks along the trail for bird watching. We then return by road to Sepilok Orang Utan Centre  Sepilok is home to the largest of the three Orang Utan rehabilitation centres in the world covering over 4000 hectares of forest. The centre was established in 1964 to rehabilitate captured, injured or abandoned apes. So far about 100 “Wild men of the forest” have been brought to the centre and there has been a remarkable success with up to 75% having returned to the jungle. We plan to visit the centre in time for feeding when, along with the permanent members, pregnant mother who otherwise live in the jungle, often come to supplement their diet and return after the birth of their young. We then return to Sandakan airport for flight on MH3037 ETD1850hrs and arriving BKI 1940hrs (Breakfast)

Requirement for the trip:

Raincoat, torchlight, insect repellent, good trekking shoes and day pack.

The Price includes: Airfare on MAS Wings flight only  BKI-SDK-BKI, transfer from SDK airport till departure on day 2, accommodation at Bilit Rainforest lodge, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1dinner, Entry permit and fees and English speaking guide.

Not included: Alcoholic and soft drink, tipping and items not included.
